A rush hour collision today on northbound Highway 6 by Westheimer Road in west Houston has claimed at least one life and seriously injured more. The multi vehicle collision involved about 7 vehicles, at least one of which flipped over. Another pair of vehicles collided head-on.

Details of the Highway 6 Fatal Crash

When a vehicle flips over in a wreck, the injuries can be particularly severe. And 75% of the accidents where vehicle occupants get ejected are fatal.

This fatal highway collision on Highway 6, one of the first area road fatalities of 2013, happened around 4:30 p.m. as commuters were starting to get off work and head for home. Life Flight conveyed some of the seriously injured wreck victims to area hospitals. Investigators closed part of Highway 6 and Westheimer Road to investigate the fatal highway collision and clear the scene. The names of the accident victims were not released.
