A Thanksgiving morning pileup of more than 100 cars, trucks, and other vehicles shut down I-10 in both directions while investigators and rescue crews worked the scene. Westbound lanes have since been reopened but eastbound I-10 remains closed for now.
More than 100 vehicles were crushed into a compacted mass of wreckage in early morning fog around 8 a.m. on I-10 near Beaumont, about 80 miles east of Houston. Officials say one person has died and at least 80 people have injuries from the massive vehicle pileup. (Source: Associated Press, 11/22/12) Other than dense fog, no details were available regarding the cause of the catastrophic crash on this busy travel weekend.
