Be Alert to Children’s Swimming Pool Drowning Dangers
Young children face many dangers in a swimming pool of which adults might not even be aware. They could become trapped by the suction of powerful drain systems, or be overwhelmed by water depths of just a few feet. Condo and apartment complexes generally don’t provide lifeguards or even safety equipment beyond the legally required minimum. Sometimes gates or locks that are supposed to close off a swimming pool area for safety are open or accidentally left unlatched.
It’s usually up to parents and guardians to see to their children’s safety in a swimming pool area. To help you watch out for your child’s safety in the water, our Gulf Cost drowning accident attorneys provide these safety tips:
- Follow all swimming pool rules and abide by all safety and warning notices.
- Ensure that your children always have responsible adult supervision in the water and in swimming pool areas.
- Make sure that pool safety equipment like pool hooks, life preservers, and life vests are available in case they’re needed.
- Equip your child in advance with basic water safety and swimming knowledge.
Most accidents are preventable. Our Gulf Coast drowning accident attorneys hope that these safety tips might help you to see your family safely through the summer swimming season.
