Tuesday’s Horrific Fatal Accident of an Oilfield Van Reveals the Growing Number of Serious Crashes Linked to the Oil Industry Boom in West Texas

2012 showed a sharp increase in crash numbers in the West Texas Permian Basin. There were 320 fatal accidents in the region and fatal crashes increased by 27% in 2012 over the previous year. Our Texas crash injury attorneys emphasize that there were more than 4,000 accidents in the Permian Basin that caused both fatal and serious injuries. Speeding and driver distraction have been named by law enforcement officials as the two leading causes of these serious crashes. (Source: TxDOT.gov, 3/1/13)

Drive carefully if you travel the oil boom regions of Texas. Traffic is heavier than the roads were generally designed for, and oil company workers might be fatigued and/or distracted. And everyone seems to be in a hurry these days. So stay alert, buckle up, and drive safe.
