A pickup truck driver lost control of his vehicle while traveling northbound on Loop 337 in New Braunfels, TX Tuesday. He lost control of the pickup truck by the railroad overpass between the Guadalupe River Bridge and River Road. Then the pickup truck drove off the overpass.

It must have seemed like certain death to the man behind the wheel. But in a miracle landing, the truck landed upright on its 4 tires, sparing the man and his infant daughter inside the cab of the truck a far worse fate. The truck pounced to the ground near the railroad tracks running parallel to Gruene Road in New Braunfels.

The pickup truck wreck occurred after the storms had passed and after the roads were dry again, sorain and wet road conditions apparently weren’t factors in the accident. New Braunfels police are conducting an investigation into the causes of the pickup truck wreck.

An Airlife helicopter transported the pickup truck driver and his infant daughter to a hospital in San Antonio. According to reports, they both have non-life threatening injuries. The accident stalled local traffic near the New Braunfels site for around an hour while crews cleared the scene of the pickup truck wreck.

Traumatic as the accident was, the infant girl will probably not recall the pickup truck wreck once she’s older. But no doubt family gatherings for years to come will be filled with tales of the good pickup truck that miraculously pounced to the ground in an upright landing to save the girl and her father. The tale might grow broader as years pass. But embellishment won’t mar the miracle that saved the pair from imminent disaster as the pickup truck drove off the overpass.
