Our Baytown boating accident attorneys note a tragic hit and run boat wreck that has left a man missing in Cedar Bayou waters. The Coast Guard has called off the search for a missing 34-year-old man after a hit and run boat crash Saturday afternoon in Baytown. A helicopter and dive teams joined the search but did not find the missing accident victim.
The unidentified 34-year-old man and his roommate had been fishing on Baytown’s Cedar Bayou from a small aluminum boat when they were struck head-on by a white fiberglass bay boat, 17 feet with a blue stripe, that had been witnessed driving erratically in the water southeast of Texas Spur 99. The crash impact threw the 34-year-old man and his roommate into the bayou.
The roommate managed to survive the accident, but the other man did not surface after the wreck. The man’s roommate told officers that the two men in the fiberglass bay boat speedily fled the scene of the fatal Cedar Bayou hit and run boat crash. The two men fled to the dock parking lot where they loaded their boat onto a trailer. (Source: Houston Chronicle, Terri Langford, July 15, 2012)
Our Baytown boating accident attorneys repeat that the vehicle pulling the trailer is described as a white, late model, 4-door Ford truck. The two men fled the scene so quickly that they apparently forgot to pull in the boat’s motor and dragged it across the rec area parking lot as they drove away from the scene of the fatal hit and run boat wreck. The motor might have telltale damage after the abuse. Texas Parks and Wildlife officers were leading the investigation.
The Baytown boating accident attorneys at Denena & Points condole with the missing man’s family, friends, and roommate as they try to come to grips with this needless tragedy. We call upon the reckless hit and run boaters to turn themselves in and take responsibility for the tragedy they have caused.
