Illegal immigration endangers Texans on the roads too

Texas injury attorneys note that aside from the hazards posed by drug trafficking and violent crimes committed by aliens in our state illegally, Texans also face very dangerous road conditions due to illegal immigration. Texans are probably accustomed to reading of fatal crashes caused by unlicensed and uninsured drivers who are in this country illegally. Some of these fatal crashes occur when the drivers were also drunk and/or attempting to evade law enforcement authorities.

A recent crash also illustrates dangers that occur when paid human traffickers attempt to bring illegal immigrants into our state by motor vehicle. On Tuesday, a minivan packed with 16 illegal immigrants wrecked in Palmview as it attempted to evade authorities. Windows and doors of the overloaded van ruptured during the incident. 9 people were killed and 7 others received injuries. The driver of the minivan was 15 years old. He and 7 other people were arrested after the deadly crash.

One illegal immigrant who survived the crash told authorities that she had paid $4,000 to be smuggled illegally into the United States. Another person was paid $20 each for each illegal immigrant she harbored in her house. A Mexican citizen received $1,000 to see to the housing and feeding of the illegal immigrants while they were in transit.

Smuggling illegal immigrants into the state of Texas is a well-organized business. One that endangers Texans every day on our roads and throughout our neighborhoods. Our Texas injury attorneys would like to see state and federal authorities work to curb illegal immigration and the hazards it brings to our state on a daily basis.
