Houston Hit and Run Accidents are Increasing in Frequency

Our Houston wrongful death attorneys point out that Harris County is the state leader in drunken driving accidents, and drunken drivers cause a high proportion of hit and run accidents. The erratic driving of the one who hit the pedestrian on West Greens road, running off the road and into a stop sign as well as over the man walking, suggests that the hit and run driver might have been under the influence.

From 1999 to 2001, the number of reported hit and run accidents in Houston increased by 20%. And the years following have shown a steady rise in these types of wrecks. Our Houston wrongful death attorneys report that a study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety showed that over 20% of all fatal accidents are caused by unlicensed drivers or by drivers with suspended licenses. And that unlicensed drivers were over 66% more likely to be hit and run drivers than were licensed drivers.
