Early Monday morning before 8 at The Courses at Watters Creek golf course in Plano, Texas, a lawn maintenance worker was found drowned. He was found pinned beneath a mower in a pond. Other maintenance crewmembers were administering CPR when Plano rescue personnel arrived, but the man was pronounced dead from the tragic accident. Reportedly, the drowned maintenance worker had been seen alive by fellow maintenance crewmembers only 30 minutes before being found underwater. More than 500 work-related deaths were reported in Texas in 2012, an increase of 20% from 2011. The Texas Department of Insurance indicated that transportation-related accidents were the most common cause of on-the-job deaths in Texas.
