15 people in two Corpus Christi, Texas medical facilities have developed serious bloodstream infections after being given calcium gluconate through an IV. Our Texas compounding pharmacy drug recall attorneys note that in all, the IV treatments sickened 17 people.
The bloodstream infections detected so far are in patients treated with calcium gluconate at Doctor’s Regional and the Bay Area Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. But Specialty Compounding in Cedar Park, the company that manufactured the tainted drug, says that the products were distributed nationwide. Specialty Compounding had been noted previously by the FDA for possible contamination concerns regarding its products.
The FDA has issued a recall, now expanded to ALL unexpired, supposedly sterile products manufactured since May 9th by Specialty Compounding of Cedar Park, Texas. The compounding pharmacy has issued a statement saying that any contamination in products intended to be sterile could be fatal for patients.
