Texans Suffer Some of the Highest Numbers of Deaths from Intoxicated Drivers in the Nation

NHTSA data found that in 2010, drunken drivers caused 42% of the fatal collisions in Texas. That represents 42% of wrecks that were entirely preventable if those who drank had chosen other alternatives besides getting behind the wheel.

The United States experienced 10,228 fatal alcohol-related collisions in 2010. Texas accounted for more than 25% of that total number at 2,998. The 10,228 tragic victims of these alcohol-related crashes accounted for 31% of the total number of 32,885 U.S. traffic fatalities in that year.

The Texas injury attorneys at Denena Points, PC urge you to educate your family about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. If you plan to drink, plan for alternative means of transportation: a cab or a designated driver for instance. Never drink and drive. It’s a deadly combination.
