DWI Wreck in Liberty County Kills 1 Teen Passenger, Injures Other | DENENA | POINTS

23-year-old Ryan Dean Birdwell, now charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault with a motor vehicle, was driving northbound on Highway 61 around 11:30 on Saturday night when he veered off the roadway. When he tried to get back on the road, he overcorrected and crashed into a tree. The impact near Devers killed one of his passengers, a 16-year-old boy, at the scene. The Liberty County DWI wreck sent his other passenger, a 14-year-old boy, to the hospital with injuries that included a broken leg. (Source: Jayme Fraser, Houston Chronicle, 5/26/13)
