Friday morning shortly before 8 a.m., a woman driving a green Volkswagen Beetle died when she crashed violently into a Lamar Consolidated ISD school bus. The fatal school bus crash occurred at FM 359 and FM 723 in Fort Bend County close to Foster High School.
Our Fort Bend County accident attorneys sadly note that the driver of the green Volkswagen Beetle, who was described as in her 30s or 40s, died at the scene of the tragic Volkswagen accident. Two of the 5 students aboard the bus, as well as the school bus driver, received transport to a medical center.
Authorities were trying to determine the cause of the fatal school bus crash. Some reports of the fatal school bus crash indicated that the driver of the Volkswagen Beetle might have swerved, veered off the road, and overcorrected and lost control of the car before crashing into the bus. The crash was so violent that the Beetle was spun around to face away from the bus after impact.

What is Oversteering?
Oversteering causes loss of vehicle control when the car goes in a different direction that the one in which the steering wheel is trying to point it. This happens because rear wheels might lose traction in a sudden or very sharp turn to slide out from the intended direction.
Electronic stability control (ESC) can sometimes prevent accidents caused by oversteering or understeering by selectively applying brakes to wheels and also reducing the engine throttle rate if needed. Our Fort Bend County accident attorneys note that research has indicated that ESC reduces the risk of a fatal multi-vehicle accident by about 20%.
