50-year-old Constance Hackett was charged with DWI after crashing at high speed into two vehicles, and then continuing on to drive through the side of a doctor’s office. The doctor’s office was heavily damaged by the DWi accident and will remain closed for at least a week in order to rebuild.
Reportedly, Constance Hackett was driving a Lexus that hit two other vehicles as she tried to make a right turn at Airline and McArdle on Sunday. Witnesses say she hit an SUV and spun it around, then tore at high speed through a parking lot, before finally crashing into the Soward Adams Psychological Service Building. To our Gulf Coast accident lawyers’ knowledge, the practice did not offer drive-through services prior to the crash and probably does not intend to do so in the future.
According to police, Hackett remained in the driver’s seat even as first responders began arriving at the scene. She reportedly was uncooperative as rescue crews worked to extract her from the vehicle. Hackett claimed to a defense attorney at the scene of the crash.
Constance Hackett was given a field sobriety test and arrested on suspicion of DWI. Police found empty mini wine bottles in Hackett’s Lexus, as well as some that were still sealed. (Source: KRISTV.com, 7/30/2012)
