Thursday night on Boudreaux Road by FM 2920 in northwest Harris County, a man driving a Jeep suddenly swerved into oncoming traffic. The driver of the Chrysler 300 that was approaching tried to take evasive action and avoid the wreck by swerving into the lane the Jeep had just vacated. But the Jeep driver simultaneously tried to avoid the imminent wreck by steering back into his own lane. Both vehicles then crashed head-on.
The driver of the Jeep died at the scene of the accident. His wife received transport to the hospital in stable condition. The family of four in the Chrysler 300 sedan also received transport to the hospital for their injuries. (Source: khou.com, 12/28/12)

Drowsy driving and distracted driving are two of the most common causes for a driver temporarily veering out of his intended lane. If a driver nods off or has his attention pulled away by a distraction, then brings his attention back to driving as he feels the car leaving the road, sometimes safety margins are too narrow to allow him to correct course in time to avoid a wreck.
