Friday evening around 6:30, a woman fell to her death from the Texas Giant, a14-story steel hybrid wooden roller coaster at Six Flags over Texas amusement park in Arlington. Our Texas Giant roller coaster accident attorneys note that the Associated Press and The Dallas Morning News quoted Carmen Brown of Arlington, Texas as a witness to the woman being strapped into the roller coaster before her fatal fall. This witness said that she had been behind the woman and the woman’s son in line to ride the Texas Giant.

Carmen Brown indicated that Six Flags employees “didn’t secure her right.” Ms. Brown mentioned that the woman had asked the employees to click her safety restraint latched more than once, and that apparently other riders’ restraints were clicked more than once. But our Texas Giant roller coaster accident attorneys point out that the now deceased woman’s restraint reportedly was “only clicked once.” And apparently “she didn’t feel safe.”

Then during the ride that woman “basically tumbled over” out of her roller coaster car and vanished from the ride to her relatives’ grief when the ride finally came to a halt bereft of their mother. (Sources: The Associated Press; and The Scoop Blog, Dallas Morning News, 7/19/13)

Was an Unsecured Safety Restraint Responsible for the Woman’s Fatal Fall from the Texas Giant Roller Coaster?

A tweet mentioned in a news story said that the roller coaster’s safety restraint released and the woman flew off the Texas Giant on a turn. The Texas Giant roller coaster accident attorneys at Denena Points, PC emphasize that the steel hybrid coaster has a record 95-degree bank turn at one point.

Another report said that the woman’s restraint came undone and she dropped out of the coaster on a downward incline. We remark that the Texas Giant also has a 79-degree drop. The upgraded wooden roller coaster is billed as the steepest of its kind in the world. So secure safety restraints are an absolute necessity.

At this time, authorities are only confirming a woman’s death related to the Texas Giant roller coaster. They are waiting to confer with Six Flags officials to get more information before they confirm the manner of the woman’s death.
