A Wednesday morning accident just before 1:30 a.m. claimed the life of 22-year-old woman on State Highway 3 (Old Galveston Road). According to Houston police, a southbound GMC Envoy ran a red light on State Highway 3 at Edgebrook. An eastbound Honda Civic on Edgebrook was turning left onto Old Galveston Road at the same moment that a westbound Isuzu Trooper was turning left onto the road. But the red light runner in the GMC Envoy crashed into the Honda Civic. The impact reportedly pushed the Civic into the Isuzu. The young woman who died at the scene of the crash was a passenger in the Honda Civic. The driver of the Honda and a passenger in the Isuzu both received transport to the hospital for serious injuries from the Old Galveston Road crash.

Houston police apparently found the driver of the GMC Envoy behind some bushes near the intersection and took the red light runner into custody.
