Second Fatal Howard County Oilfield Accident to Occur in Two Days | DENENA | POINTS

A day after oilfield worker Felipe Saiz from Big Spring, Texas died in Howard County when a drilling rig collapsed, Juan Manuel Estrada-Duarte, also of Big Spring, died after a heater treater rolled over him and pinned him against another treater in the Athlon Yard. Workers employed by Earthco were engaged in preparing oil for transport at a large, heavy, cylindrical heater tank when the fatal Howard County oilfield accident occurred. The heavy heater tanks are used in pumping oil prior to transport. Earthco is a company contracted to transport and install the heavy heater treaters in oilfield sites.

The equipment needed to extract Mr. Estrada-Duarte from his entrapment was present at the site of the Howard County oilfield accident. So he was extracted quickly. But sadly, the massive weight of the heater treater had already inflicted fatal injuries. The owner of Earthco said that Mr. Estrada-Duarte had been a valued employee of Earthco for 22 years.
