A young boy, variously described as being between 11 and 14 years old, was left unconscious after jumping into Richardson’s Lake Water Park in Warrenville, S.C. on Thursday. The boy was apparently swimming with a buddy and his buddy began to call for help when his friend went under and didn’t resurface. News reports of the water park accidentweren’t clear about what caused the boy’s injury – whether he hit his head on a diving board or whether someone else landed on top of him in the water.
When his buddy yelled for help though, a number of people went into action. Lifeguards and others began to search the water and found him fairly quickly. He was pulled from the water unconscious, not breathing, and without a pulse. People took turns administering CPR until EMS arrived. The boy was first taken to a local hospital, then airlifted to MCG, a Georgia hospital at Georgia Health Sciences University. A call later informed concerned people at the water park that the boy was breathing and in stable condition.
The water park injury attorneys at Denena & Points are relieved to hear that the boy has continued breathing and has reached stable condition. We wish him a safe and full recovery from his injuries.
Our water park injury attorneys realize that complications caused by near drownings, when victims remain deprived of oxygen for lengthy periods, can result in serious or permanent disability. The life-saving actions of all those people who immediately jumped into action to take turns administering CPR to the boy at Richardson’s Lake Water Park may have made all the difference to the young man’s recovery. We laud their prompt action and concern and hope for the best for the young boy that suffered such a traumatic experience.
