Wrong Way Wrecks Often Cause More Severe Damage than Other Types of Crashes

The reason is that these collisions often occur at high speed and end in violent head-on impacts. Studies in several U.S. states have shown that the death rate for wrong way wrecks is between 12 and 27 times higher than for other types of crashes. Our Highway 67 crash attorneys point out that drunken driving causes about 60% of head-on, wrong way collisions. Our Highway 67 crash attorneys point out that many wrong way collisions occur at night and after a drunken driver has entered the exit ramp of a highway.

But as the Highway 67 head-on crash near Glen Rose demonstrates, deadly head-on collisions could occur at any time. Distracted driving behaviors like texting while driving; dealing with children, pets, or companions; eating; reading; or changing the music might also lead to wrecks. And driver fatigue is another common cause of wrong way collisions. Drive safe: stay alert behind the wheel.
