Over 600,000 Mr. Coffee coffeemakers recalled for burn hazards | DENENA | POINTS

Houston product injury lawyers announce that the U.S. CPSC and Jarden, the importer of the coffeemaker, have announced that more than 500,000 U.S. units and more than 80,000 Canadian units of the dangerous and defective brewing machine are being recalled for burn hazards.

The recall results from the dangerous build-up of steam that can occur in the brewing machine’s water reservoir. The steam build up could force the brewing chamber open and spew hot coffee grounds and hot water onto nearby coffee lovers. Jarden, the importer of the Mr. Coffee coffeemakers, has received over 160 reports regarding burn hazards from the sudden, unexpected opening of the brewing chamber because of steam pressure. Those reports include more than 60 reports of burn wounds to victims’ faces, hands, and upper torsos.

The Mr. Coffee coffeemaker was sold in black with silver, red or white trim. These Mr. Coffee coffeemakers bear model numbers, printed on the bottom of the brewer, starting with the letters BVMC-KG. The brewing machines were made in China and sold from September 2010 through August for about $60 to $80.

Our Houston product injury lawyers point out that the coffeemakers were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Brandsmart, JC Penney, Kmart, Lowe’s, Target and Wal-Mart and online at www.mrcoffee.com. Owners of the dangerous and defective coffeemaker should stop using them immediately due to burn hazards and contact Jarden at 800-993-8609 or at www.mrcoffeerecall.com for details on getting a free replacement unit.
