2 killed, 1 critically injured in Burleson County motorcycle crashes
On Saturday evening around 7 p.m., a car struck a motorcycle that was turning on to State Park Road 57 at F.M. 60. Hugh Davis, 53, drove the motorcycle that was hit in the fatal Burleson County motorcycle crash. He died at the scene of the tragic wreck. His passenger, Mary K. Davis, 56, received head injuries in the serious wreck. She received transport to a Temple hospital in critical condition.
Texas DPS reports mentioned that neither rider of the bike was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Our Texas motorcycle accident lawyers note that many serious motorcycle crashes occur at intersections when drivers of larger vehicles do not notice motorcycles engaged in a turn.
Earlier on Saturday, Gordon Allen Hakins, 61, tragically lost his life on F.M. 60 when his motorcycle ran off the road and struck a sign. Texas DPS reports that Mr. Hakins also did not wear a helmet at the time of his fatal Burleson County motorcycle crash. (Source: The Eagle, 9/10/12)
The hearts and sympathies of our Texas motorcycle accident lawyers are with the bereaved family and friends of the victims of the fatal Burleson County motorcycle crashes. Our thoughts and wishes for safe recovery also go out to Ms. Davis, hospitalized for her injuries.
The Board Certified Texas motorcycle lawyers at Denena & Points note that Burleson County is one of the Texas counties that has seen increased traffic and risks of accidents since the shale oil and gas development started booming in the Eagle Ford Shale region. We urge motorcycle riders to be wary of the increased accident dangers and always take the safety precaution of wearing your helmets on roads in and around the shale development.
