The Circumstances of the Catastrophic DWI Crash on Barker Cypress
The deadly head-on crash occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday in the 9800 block of Barker Cypress. Shannon Smith and his son received transport to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Shannon Smith now faces two felony charges: intoxication manslaughter and DWI with a child passenger.
Another, three-vehicle accident occurred following the deadly head-on crash as other drivers tried to avoid the crash scene. Authorities did not release information on the conditions of the occupants of these three vehicles.
