Houston TranStar cameras reportedly showed traffic being diverted onto the feeder road just beforethe accident. Clearing the Scene of a Local Multi-Vehicle Accident
The La Porte accident attorneys at Denena Points, PC note that the more complex the accident that occurs, the longer it will take authorities to investigate and clear the site. When injuries or fatalities occur, when a driver appears intoxicated and must be tested for impairment, or when an 18-wheeler spills fuel or cargo, the time it takes to clear an accident scene lengthens. And traffic backups and diversions to other routes can frustrate travelers for hours.
Rubbernecking, driver inattention, driver frustration, or trying to bypass a detour can cause secondary accidents before the first one has been cleared. Houston TranStar efforts have been reducing the average amount of time it takes to clear a local accident scene. In 2008, emergency crews took almost 50 minutes to clear the site of the average accident. But in 2011, that time had been reduced to about 33 minutes.
Our La Porte accident attorneys note that your patience and careful attention to the road if you find yourself in a backup caused by a wreck could help prevent additional accidents that harm and delay you even further.
