The Texas rollover accident attorneys at Denena & Points mention that TxDOT, as part of its efforts to encourage safe driving and lower the number of Texas traffic accidents and fatalities, has launched a new campaign aimed at teens. The campaign, called Teen Click It or Ticket, focuses on the benefits of seat belt use.
One of the novel elements of the campaign is the use of an actual wrecked vehicle involved in a teen rollover accident. The crushed vehicle is part of traveling exhibit that will visit over 700 high school and junior colleges around the state. The teens inside the vehicle at the time of the wreck had their seatbelts on, and emerged unscathed.
Our Texas rollover accident attorneys remind you that occupants ejected from their vehicles during a rollover wreck face a 75% chance of fatal accident. The chances of being ejected during a rollover wreck increase dramatically when you’re not wearing your seatbelt.
Estimates place the number of lives saved in 2010 through seatbelt use at around 1,425. Also, in 2010, almost half of the nearly 300 teens that died in traffic accidents were not wearing their seat belts.
Our Texas rollover accident attorneys join TxDOT in reminding you that it only takes a second or two to buckle your seatbelt, and buckling up could add years to your life.
Teens can win prizes and share their stories of accidents and how seatbelts helped them survive at the TxDOT site, seatbeltsrock.com. Teens and their parents can also download our free book on the do’s and don’ts of car accident claims in Texas for a sobering look at the aftermath of a wreck.
