Right now, a young boy is fighting for his life after being crushed by a boat in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland Paris. The boy somehow fell backwards out of the boat as it moved through a lagoon. The Disney ride injury lawyers at Denena Points, PC sadly note that the boy was hit by another boat and ended up trapped between a platform and the boat, which crushed his chest. The boy’s father jumped out of the boat and managed to free him, but the child was sent to a Paris children’s hospital in critical condition. A police investigation is in progress to determine the cause of the accident and if negligence by the park was a factor.
But our Disney ride injury lawyers point out that that’s not the only horrific accident to occur at the park. There’s a lengthy accident injury history for Disneyland Paris. We mention a few recent examples below.
- January 2013: Four people were injured when two cars became uncoupled on the Disneyland Railroad and then collided.
- December 2012: A 12-year-old boy was paralyzed from the neck down from riding the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror freefall ride.
- April 2011: Five people were injured, one of them seriously, when fake rocks struck their train while they were riding the Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster.
- October 2010: Our Disney ride injury lawyers call attention to another boat ride accident that claimed a life. A man contracted to clean by Disney became trapped under a boat in the It’s a Small World attraction when the ride accidentally switched on while he was working. He was taken to the hospital with severe injuries from which he died.
