How long does it usually take to clear an accident scene in Houston? | DENENA | POINTS

Houston Transtar says that despite program cuts and growth in Houston’s population and traffic congestion, emergency crews are clearing accident scenes from your commute routes faster than ever. In 2011, the average accident scene clearance time dropped to 33.5 minutes from 34.7 minutes in 2010. And back in 2008, it took emergency crews an average of 49 minutes to clear an accident scene. Of course, the more complicated an accident, the longer it will generally take to clear. Investigations involving fatal and DWI crashes can add significantly to accident scene clearance times. Large multi-vehicle accidents take longer to clear. And whenever there’s a spill of a hazardous or combustible substance, road closure, evacuations, and spill cleanup efforts might also add to your wasted time stuck in traffic because of an accident up ahead.

Our Houston injury lawyers caution you to not let impatience lead to another wreck that might injure you. Distracted, drunken, and just plain impatient drivers sometimes end up in additional crashes when they collide with an existing accident scene.
