Road rage. Rushing drivers. You them all around you on the roads in Pearland, TX and throughout the Houston region. News reports chronicle daily accidents because of these raging and rushing drivers. It makes you wonder sometimes if there’s anyone out on the roads who’s NOT in a hurry, and who’s NOT angry at surrounding traffic.
Up in Montgomery County, the Police Reporter gave a good account regarding a recklessly speeding truck driver. The 18-wheeler driver, poorly representing the Ben E. Keith company that had its name on the truck, sped through a school zone, relentlessly forced a number of other drivers out of his way and onto the shoulders of the road, passed vehicles at high speed on curves, and dangerously rode the bumper of at least one smaller vehicle.
Trucks are notorious for overturning when taking curves at high speed. Truck collisions with smaller vehicles often result in ugly underride incidents. Wrecked vehciles
From the Police Reporter’s account, it seems a matter of pure luck that no one was injured or killed by this 18-wheeler driver’s behavior. The driver certainly showed a reckless disregard for others’ safety, if not downright malice. His behavior certainly reflected poorly on the employer.
On the whole, Ben E. Keith strikes me as a better than average company of which I’ve always had a good impression. But if this particularly truck driver stands as representative of the company and its practices, that good impression could fade quickly in a lot of minds, particularly if an accident results. And the vicarious liability from 18-wheeler wrecks caused by this rampaging truck driver could be costly to the employer.
