2 men hospitalized from tanker rig rollover wreck in Jim Wells County

Baytown tanker truck accident lawyers note a dangerous rollover wreck that sent the truck’s driver and passenger to the hospital with injuries. On Tuesday afternoon in Jim Wells County, the driver of an eastbound 18-wheeler began to veer off the road on FM 624 close to Highway 281. The tanker rig’s driver overcorrected the truck’s course as he tried to get back on the road. He lost control of the tanker truck and it flipped over onto its side and began to leak light crude oil.

Good Samaritans were able to extract the passenger safely from the tanker truck, but could not help the trapped driver. The passenger received transport to a hospital in Alice, Texas for his injuries.

Rescuers from the Alice Fire Department extracted the driver of the 18-wheeler, William Jason Pugh, using the Jaws of Life. A Halo Flight carried Mr. Pugh to a hospital to receive treatment for the injuries he received in the tanker truck rollover wreck.

Crews closed the lanes at the site of wreck for most of the afternoon. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality was set to oversee the cleanup crew hired by the trucking company that owned the tanker rig.
