NW Houston Two-Vehicle Wreck on Tuesday takes Two Lives

Houston police say that the driver of a white GMC Sierra truck was moving at a high rate of speed when he struck a green Mazda Protégé on Tuesday morning around 6:30. The fatal two-vehicle wreck happened in the 6800 block of West 43rd at 4620 Southerland near Cotton.

Jose Tovar, 69, and Digna Evceda were in the green Mazda Protégé northbound on Southerland. They were just pulling away from a stop sign when the GMC Sierra pickup, eastbound on W. 43rd, struck them at high speed. The high-speed impact also damaged a number of street signs and broke a fire hydrant at the scene.

Jose Tovar and Digna Evceda died at the scene of the tragic two-vehicle wreck. The driver of the GMC Sierra received transport to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities did not release the name of the driver of the GMC Sierra pickup and have field no charges in the matter as yet. (Source: Dale Lezon, Houston Chronicle, 11/7/12)

The deepest sympathies of our Houston auto accident attorneys are with the grieving family and friends of Jose Tovar and Digna Evceda at this tragic time.
