Car “Seat Check Saturday” is 9/24/2011 – Protect Your Child’s Safety

NHTSA statistics show that children properly restrained in car seats or booster seats have a much lower risk of injury or death from car accidents than children who are improperly restrained in the car. But the agency’s statistics also show that a lot of children still ride in cars without the proper child passenger safety restraints. And about 80% of those using child passenger safety restraints, in Deer Park, TX and elsewhere, use them improperly, which can substantially reduce the measure of safety they provide.

So the NHTSA has designated September 18th through the 24th, 2011 as Child Passenger Safety Week. And Saturday, September 24th is “Seat Check Saturday.” On that date, you can have a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician take a look at your car seats and provide helpful advice (for free!) about how to maximize your child’s safety protection in the car.  You can look for locations of Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians and Seat Check Saturday locations on the NHTSA’s web page here. (You can punch in your zip code for Deer Park, TX or other places around our metro area to get the locations closest to you.)

So take advantage! It’s free! And you can arm yourself with the knowledge and advice you need to ensure the greatest amount of child passenger safety protection for your own child. A child’s life is irreplaceable. The child’s health and well being shouldn’t have to suffer from an accidental car crash. Your extra time spent at Seat Check Saturday could help prevent child injuries and fatalities from car accidents.
