Deadly Halloween Car Accidents, Driver Killed in Head-on Crash on FM 1960

FM 1960 seems to have more than its share of car accidents at the best of times. But on Halloween night, one of the nation’s top three nights for drunk driving, and in Harris County, the nation’s top spot for drunken driving, our Harris County wrongful death lawyers sadly note that serious accidents were almost inevitable.

On Halloween night, a woman driving a westbound Saturn Ion veered into the eastbound lane of FM 1960 near Moonshine Hill Loop and crashed head-on into a Honda Civic driven by Elinor Sharon. The impact then pushed Elinor Sharon’s car into a Chevy Avalanche.

Ms. Sharon received transport to the hospital in critical condition and died from her severe injuries early Friday morning. The driver of the Saturn Ion was injured and hospitalized in stable condition. Harris County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the tragic head-on crash on FM 1960.

Head-on crashes are more deadly than most other types of collisions due to the high-powered frontal impact forces and the fact that most of these wrecks occur at high speed. Data collected from the U.S. NHTSA reveals that at least 60% of head-on crashes caused by wrong way drivers are alcohol-related. But the Harris County wrongful death lawyers at Denena Points, PC emphasize that distracted, disoriented, and drowsy drivers also cause deadly wrong way wrecks.
